Our Dequindre location is a full-service location, meaning we can perform additional preventative maintenance services such as transmission fluid and radiator flushes, help increase gas mileage with our engine additives and treatments, and install or replace air filters, wiper blades, and bulbs. What brought me back was I'd pre-paid for an oil change and the dashboard was notifying me it was time for an oil change. I want you to know that on an earlier visit, the air filter was changed, resulting in broken clips to the air filter holder which I had to get repaired at the dealer. This is why I opted to not pre-pay for my next oil change when I was in for this oil change. Thank you.
Also, I was quite surprised that this store had to jump start another Customer (in the service bay next to me) with one of the Employee's vehicles. I was told by the Employee that the Uncle Ed starter equipment was broken, and had been broken for a while, which is why they were jump starting "the old fashioned way". For a company who's business is vehicle maintenance, this does not present a very professional environment to the Customer.

I came in for an oil change on Wednesday December 5th, 2018. I ended up getting my oil changed, engine flushed, new wiper blades, a radiator top off, and a new cabin air filter. After I left I started to hear a noise coming from the blower motor. I took it back in and the assistant manager looked at the air filter and while he was looking at it the noise stopped and someone pulled in behind me. the assistant manager said they would take a closer look at it on a different day when they were less busy. (I believe he was the only one there) I said sure and since the noise went away it was not the biggest deal in the world. So fast forward to Friday, December 7th, 2018. I was driving to work and my car was making a very loud noise coming from the blower motor while I had my heat on. I took it back into the shop. When I got there everyone was very friendly and professional. They took a look at the filter and proceeded to tell me to take it to a dealership and that there was nothing they could do about it. The Assistant manager said "This would have happened no matter where you would have taken it." There was never a noise before I took it to Uncle Ed's and now there is a noise after I received a new cabin air filter from Uncle Ed's. I will tell everyone to NEVER go to uncle ed's ever again. It is just very disappointing that they could not fix their own mistakes and now I have to pay to take it to a dealership to get something fixed on my car that was not broken before I took it to Uncle Ed's.

The canned information provided is misleading and frustrating?
A fluid change is recommended for your transmission every 30k. No it’s not it is recommended every 100k. Per the manufacturer.
Your oil is dark indicating the engine is dirty! NO, soot from combustion darkens the oil. Only oil testing can indicate it is dirty.

I was due for an oil change for the past couple weeks but had been unable to take time during the day to come in for service. Also, working extra hours prevented me from coming in before close. However, this day I was driving past the shoppe at closing time (7 PM) and saw the doors were still open and an employee was standing ready for a customer. As I turned into the parking lot, Angel (Asst. Mgr) saw me coming and they were ready to work. Even though I came in for service at close, they were eager to work and seemed sincerely happy to take car of my car's needs. They were professional and friendly. I was impressed with them. I was very impressed with the manager, he was very polite and respectful. My two grandson's were in the car and they were hot and sweaty, the manager had one of the guys bring out a fan to cool them down, he even offered to get them somethingâ€‹to drink from the office. I was dreading to have to go but they actually made it a very pleasant experience. I didn't feel pressured into buying something that I didn't need or anything. All in all, I will be returning and recommending them to others.

The crew did a great job this visit. There was an issue with my windshield wiper fluid (not squirting). They attempted to find the problem and when unsuccessful made good suggestions for further resolution. I was also able to use two coupons together on the same day of service, so I was glad to see that my question about that on a previous survey was addressed and honored.

The fact that I could not use the $5.00 coupon (parts purchased) to pay for the air filter in conjunction with the oil change coupon is somewhat ridiculous. If I would have used the oil change coupon today and return to Uncle Ed's tomorrow and but the air filter, I could have used the $5.00 coupon, so what is the difference. It just seems like an inconvenience to the customer to have to make an extra visit just so that I can utilize both coupons for the same vehicle.

I was not able to arrive at Uncle Ed's for a headlamp change until about 6:15 pm. It is very difficult to change the headlamp on my 2009 Ford Focus, and Asst. Manager Chris, as well as Mike, worked at it until it was complete, despite the fact that they worked past their closing time. I was extremely thankful to them, for going over and above for me. They were professional and friendly the entire time!

I was very happy that I decided to come back to Ed's oil shoppe after a not so wonderful visit at another location. This shop is going to be my new go-to location. was not told that i would be paying 49.00.I said i wanted the basic service like the other places do.I thought id be paying 17.00 -22.00 dollars.After work had already started the tech came over to the car and asked me to pick one of the services.To my surprise the cheapest was 45.00.If i would of been told this to start with i would of said forget it.I had to charge the service because at that point i didn't have that much cash on me.They need to tell people up front that they have a few choices to pick from so people can either say yes or no.ill never go there or any of these shops again.I felt taken advantaged of.

My Last visit I stopped in on my way home from work (downtown Detroit) so it was about 6:45pm. I let them know I knew it was near closing time and I could come back Saturday but Michael said absolutely not. "We are happy to take care of you now". Eric the Mgr. was new and introduced himself. He was friendly and professional and quickly agreed with Michael. They did not rush my service and since I rely on Michael for my complete car care He informed me of services that were due and although I tried to tell them that I could do it next oil change because of the time, they assured me it was not a problem and they would gladly do it now and not to worry about the time and they were happy to service my car. They serviced my car as they normally would regardless of the time, they didn't rush the service. That's why I continue to go to this location(for about 10 years now). I know I can count on Michael and the guys to take care of my car. That is sooooooo comforting to me. THANK YOU Michael and Eric for your exceptional service!!!

Oil change took close to 45 minutes. Told me about a leak and charged me for a sealer, however never saw them put it in. When questioned them about it they told me they did however could not produce the bottle to prove it. Being that it was taking so long I was constantly watching what they were doing as I was getting more and more frustrated with how long it took. So I paid for something that I am sure I did not get as well as the job appeared to be rushed even though it took close to 45 minutes. No sticker put on my windshield, I did not even sign for the credit card statement so not sure how this is going to get authorized for close to 100$ with no signature. There was no double checking the oil, they just closed the hood and said all set. I told them that I had not started the truck and no double check was done, so forced them to do that. Stated Battery was tested and it wasn't, states that transmission fluid checked but was not because this needs to be done while engine is running. the 3 times I have gone to an Uncle Ed's oil shoppe I have been very disappointed. 2 times here and 1 time in Pontiac.

I went in to have my headlight replaced on my 2012 Chevy Traverse. After watching the technician struggle for 20 minutes, I suggested that he replace it via the wheel well and not through the engine compartment. He was able to replace it through the wheel well after another 15 minutes. He then had to put the engine compartment back together which took another 20 minutes. The total time was nearly an hour. After the technician put the engine compartment back together, he had an extra clip. When I questioned him about it he told me it did not come from my vehicle. It was clear to me that he was looking for a spot for it but was unable to find where it belonged. He offered for me to inspect it but I take my car to the specialists and I would have no idea where it would go. I am concerned that there is a part that is not totally clipped in. This was a very bad experience and I am concerned that I will have problems with my vehicle in the future as a result.

Being recently divorced, my ex-husband always took care of the vehicle maintenance and I was "lost" on where to go, so my ex had referred me to your store. I recently had my oil changed at the dealership and began hearing a noise when I would start the car. When I pulled in to your business I was greeted with a smiling "hello" from Eric. After I explained my situation, he introduced me to John R, the manager. John was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and after checking my fluid levels, he explained about "dry starts" and a product called TX-7. I felt confident in his explanation and description to try this product. It's been a few days and the noise is gone! Uncle Ed's should be proud to have team members of such high caliber. Kudos to ERIC and JOHN R! With their know-how and honesty, I will be back to see them EVERY time.

It's not just the oil change that keeps me coming back but the system checks on the other things. JohnR was the Mgr. on duty with Mike D as his staff team. One of the things JohnR checked was my Serpintine belt. Fortunately he had the knowledge/know how to replace. Until you've had one break or slip off (which I've had) you can't appreciate this belt including how difficult to replace. I get everything I can get done here (and even more with JohnR now) and only those things you don't do send/force me to the dealership. JohnR and his team Mike D. were performing like a well oiled machine (no pun intended). Hope John R will be at this Uncle Ed's a long time.

Manger, John R was great. Super nice and explained things so I understood what was a good idea for immediate service and what I may be able to hold off on. I went in for a standard oil change and decided, based on his recommendations, to get an engine cleaning, new hepa filter and oil treatment. He even went above and beyond & helped me diagnose a check engine light issue.
Michael was also nice and did great working with John.

The oil change took a total of 42 minutes. We arrived before 8 a.m. I had coupons and when we were ready to pay the bill one of the coupons was missing. The manager went into his office to get one. I told him that I had never waited that long for an oil change. He apologized and said he would give me $15.00 dollars off the next visit. This was no deal because I have coupons that
give me the same thing. I previously took my other car their and never had any problems. I think that the oil change should have been no charge. I will definitely not go to that location again.n. By the way the lost coupon was found on the driveway by the manager.

My coupons weren't taken off and I was told if I didn't replace a filter, then I would be breathing toxic mold. That sounded likea scare tactic to get me to make a purchase.

The manager, Ed, does a fantastic job! He is very polite and professional. He is extremely knowledgeable about cars and has helped me with mine. I've had some issues with the check engine light coming on and by following his suggestions on services offered by Uncle Ed's Oil Shoppe, the situation has definitely improved. He has helped me take great care of my vehicle and has saved me money in the long run. I am grateful and I definitely give this location a top notch rating. All of the employees I have seen here work together well, move fast, and work hard.

Yesterday, my Blazer died right in front of Ed's. (2988 East Big Beaver Road, Troy, MI 48083) The police pushed it into Ed's parking lot. My regular mechanic said a tow truck would not be able to come out for 2 hours. From the symptoms the store manager (Ed!!) said it sounded like an alternator. The guys at "Advance Auto Parts" next door confirmed the diagnosis. Ed said that if he could get permission from headquarters, he could fix it quickly. I said "O.K." and Ed and crew had it done in about an hour!! Then to double check and make sure all was O.K., he had me have it checked out the next day with a friend of his (Al - a former Ed's Oil employee) who is a state licensed mechanic and currently working at "Suburban-Nissan" of Troy. Al checked it out. All was well, and he even gave my truck a rinse off to get rid of all of the salt!! I am very happy with the quick, efficient, & friendly service that Ed & his crew were able to provide. He really helped me out big time on a day when the temperatures were about 15°. I had my 93 year old dad with me and I hate to think that we would have had to wait the entire two hours in that weather for that tow truck!
